OUR ALUMNI STORIES
Devin’s Story
Devin Osorio joined NYC Salt in 6th grade, spending seven years in our after-school photography program. Through Salt, they secured an internship at Diane Von Furstenberg’s studio, which exposed them to creative careers and sparked their interest in college. Despite initial doubts, Devin pursued higher education, earning a BFA in Fibers from SCAD. Today, they are a full-time visual artist based in Mexico City, exhibiting internationally, including solo shows in LA and Miami. Devin’s journey highlights the impact of NYC Salt in creating pathways to college and creative careers.
Saida’s Story
Saida Blair, a Salt Residency alumni (Class of 2016), discovered her path through Salt’s Spring College Tour, which exposed her to different campuses and helped her choose the right environment for her education. She went on to earn a BFA in Photography and Art History from SUNY Purchase and is now an MA candidate in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Named one of PHMuseum’s 8 Black Female Photographers to Watch in 2023, Saida’s work explores storytelling, history, and identity through photography and oral history.
